Whilst producing content for television, radio, online platforms and news agencies, MTVA also manages all assets on behalf of the Hungarian public service broadcaster Duna Media Service Non-Profit Ltd. MTVA also provides support with content production and acquisition. MTVA operates 6 television channels, 9 radio stations, a news agency (MTI) and numerous new media outlets.

Participants and new jury members of the Hungarian national selection show A Dal 2016 revealed

BBCThe contestants, new jury members and innovations for 2016 have been announced at a press event held on 15 December 2015 in Budapest. MTVA (Media Service Support and Asset Management Fund) and Duna Media Service Provider Ltd. have received 372 submissions. A panel of 10 expert judges selected the 30 participants for next year’s instalment. The first heat of A Dal 2016 will be broadcast on 23 January 2016. This will be followed by two other heats on the subsequent Saturdays. The two semi-finals will take place on 13 February and 20 February and the final will take place on 27 February.

RADIO

Radio channel KOSSUTH

Kossuth Radio is the main radio station of Hungary. Created in 1925, the station has over 3 million listeners per day. As a talk radio station, it primarily broadcasts news and current affairs, as well as cultural content.

Radio channel PETŐFI

A few years ago, Petőfi Radio underwent a total revamp with respect to its profile. It now targets the young to middle-aged audience segment, broadcasting the latest music, along with recommendations for cultural and arts events, and with news.

Radio channel BARTÓK

This station is dedicated to classical music, also hosting discussion programmes and radio dramas.

Dankó Radio

Radio channel DANKÓ

Dankó Radio is a relatively new channel offering a programme of light entertainment especially designed to please admirers of Hungarian folk and world music while also catering to lovers of operetta.

Radio channel MINORITY BROADCASTING

The channel broadcasts programmes for ethnic minorities living in Hungary as well as current affairs, cultural and music content. 

Radio channel PARLIAMENTARY BROADCASTS

Regular parliamentary sessions, broadcast daily.

Radio channel DUNA WORLD RADIO

Duna World Radio broadcasts to expatriate Hungarians around the world, presenting a selection of best public service content including archives and news segments in English.

TELEVISION

Television channel M1

Daily news and current affairs channel. Viewers can follow the news as they happen from 6am to midnight – with a variety of additional TV shows.

Television channel M2

Award winning children’s and family channel by day and a new youth TV channel after 8 pm, broadcasting fresh and innovative content under the Petőfi TV brand.

Television channel DUNA

As the main public service TV channel, Duna addresses a broad cross section of audiences, with entertainment shows, news, documentaries, sports, as well as religious and minority content.

Television channel DUNA WORLD

Broadcasting to expatriate Hungarians around the globe, presenting a selection of programmes produced by other public service channels as well as MTVA’s Archive shows. Also includes an English language news segment.

M3

Television channel M3

M3 is a new retrospective channel, launched at the end of 2013, broadcasting archive programming, from feature films to sports events and quiz shows. Programmes are drawn from an archive of 56 years of MTV and 21 years of Duna Television.

Television channel M4 SPORT

Public service sports channel launched in 2015. Broadcasts live national and international sporting events, programmes about Hungary’s sport history and junior team matches. M4 also broadcasts non-live matches and summaries.

The Hungarian News Agency’s main objective is the provision of fast, trustworthy and reliable news and media services, focussing primarily on matters of Hungarian interest and concern.
