Argentina vs. Mexico World Cup time, live stream, TV channel, lineups, odds for FIFA Qatar 2022 game

Argentina and Mexico are aiming for their first victories at the 2022 FIFA World Cup when they meet in a match first played at the 1930 finals.

Argentina won 6-3 on that occasion and have lost just four of their 31 encounters with El Tri – and their desire to win against a team well-known from their Copa America campaigns has perhaps never been greater.

While Mexico clinched a point against Poland in their opening game, captain Lionel Messi’s side suffered one of the most amazing upsets of all time when Saudi Arabia came back and beat them 2-1.

So you can follow all the action in the major global territories.

Lineups between Argentina and Mexico

Forward Paulo Dybala was doubtful for the finals with a hamstring injury while sitting on the bench in Argentina’s first group game.

The centre-back’s fitness Christian Romerowho also sustained a hamstring injury is unclear after being substituted on in the 59th minute of the game.

Expected line-up for Argentina (4-3-3, right to left): 23 E. Martinez (GK) — 26 Molina, 13 Romero, 19 Otamendi, 3 Tagliafico — 7 De Paul, 5 Paredes, 17 Gomez — 10 Messi, 22 Martinez, 11 Di Maria

Wolves Striker Raul Jimenez could be an option for Mexico if they want to change their attacking line to get a first goal at these finals.

Jimenez is suffering from a hip injury but came on as a second-half substitute during the draw against Poland.

Expected line-up for Mexico (4-3-3, right to left): 13 Ochoa (GK) — 19 Sanchez, 3 Montes, 15 Moreno, 23 Gallardo — 16 Herrera, 4 Alvarez, 24 Chavez — 22 Lozano, 20 Martin, 10 Vega

Argentina vs Mexico Odds

Argentina are the clear favorites, recovering after an unexpected end to their 36 unbeaten games against Mexico, who have won two of their last seven games.

The fact that Mexico didn’t score more than once in five of those games goes some way to explaining why bookies prefer fewer than three goals and at least one of these teams has an empty goal.
