NATCHEZ—This year marks the 20thth year since family-owned Waters International Trucks opened its Natchez location.
Waters International, located at 19 Feltus St., offers a dealership, parts and service department for heavy construction equipment, school buses and international road trucks.
Three employees who started there 20 years ago are still there today: Lynn Marvel, Donald Johnson and general manager John Hughes.
To celebrate, Waters International Trucks held an open house at its warehouse last week, which was kept warm with giant heaters and hot and crispy fish rolls and chicken tenders. Approximately 100 people including employees, local officials, friends of the Waters family and other guests.
The Natchez Adams County Chamber of Commerce commissioned Waters International Trucks to honor their 20th birthdayth year in Natchez and community service.
In addition, Waters International Trucks donated a large check for $2,500 to Copiah Lincoln Community College.
Founded in 1938, the company has seven facilities in the state of Mississippi, including two in Columbus and one in Hattiesburg, Tupelo, Kosciusko, Meridian and Natchez, ML Waters said.
“Now it’s run by the fourth generation of the Waters family,” he said. “We have six Waters in the business.”
He added that since its inception 84 years ago, the company has experienced “steady growth” and is always looking to recruit. “The future is electric,” Waters said, adding that they’ve sold a few electric trucks on the freeway. “And we have a growing service department and we’re hiring more and more people.”
