CIF-Central Coast Section Football Championship match preview, predictions

The goal for all high school teams in the Central Coast Section is to practice on Thanksgiving.

Break out the pads, then the fasteners for these 10 teams below.

Not only do these games bring a section banner in the school gyms, but each winner also qualifies for the CIF State Bowl Championships, the pairings of which will be announced Sunday.

Regional bowl game winners can play for state titles during the second week of December.

CENTRAL COAST SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH PREVIEWS

Where: San Jose City College
Section title (last): Serra 7 (2021), Mitty 2 (1999)
Series history (since 2004): Serra has a 17-3-1 lead
Points for (against): Serra 434 (133), Mitty 352 (249)
Break down: Great matchup from one of the most dominant teams in CCS history – Serra won two playoff games 57-7 and 57-21 – against one of the great comeback stories. Mitty was 1-9 (1-12 over 2) last season, winning playoff games against higher-seeded 29-28 and 42-41, both in overtime. Serra won the regular season game on September 30, 35-7. As Serra junior QB Maealiuaki Smith’s game continues to rise – he has 11 FBS offers – Serra’s dominance rises as well. He was 17 of 19 last week for 284 yards and four touchdowns and only played one half.
