The holiday season is in full swing with Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years just around the corner, and one company is like Airbnb for cars, allowing people to rent vehicles as an alternative to traditional car rentals.
Turo is the world’s largest carsharing platform and is aimed at holidaymakers with various specials.
HOW TO WATCH THE FOX WEATHER
“Guests can choose from an exceptional selection of over 1,400 brands and models,” said Albert Mangahas, Turo’s chief data officer. “We have an unrivaled network of Turo hosts in over 9,500 cities across the US, Canada, UK and France.”
Mangahas said many hosts also offer delivery, further expanding the network and convenience for their users.
“We also have an easy-to-use hosting platform. So instead of letting your car sit idle 95% of the time, Turo’s hosting platform turns your idle wealth into an income machine, putting money back in our hosts’ pockets,” he said. “So our mission is to make better use of the world’s 1.5 billion cars.”
And using the service doesn’t require much effort, according to mangahas.
“It’s super easy,” he said. “You can just go to turo.com or download the Turo app on your iOS or Android device. Here you can easily search the 9,500 cities we have a presence in and find the perfect car for you, whether it’s an SUV, you need that minivan that can fit the whole family, or you’re looking for something more exciting, like a convertible that gets you from A to B.

Mangahas said Turo is excited to partner with the Michelin Guide.
“The drive-to-table experience really aims to capture the spirit of the guide’s road trip itineraries while honoring some of the most dedicated culinary entrepreneurs in America,” he said. “So travelers can claim a unique package at four Michelin-star restaurants. All participating chefs are committed to sustainable cuisine. To minimize the carbon footprint of the drive-to-table experience, we’ve curated EVs for each package that are worthy of the occasion.”
Mangahas said that when one of Turo’s travelers books one of the eligible electric vehicle tours, they receive a reservation for two in a private dining experience at a Michelin-star restaurant curated by the chef, and it includes an overnight stay at a local hotel curated by the Michelin Guide.

Turo travel on the up
And with the holiday coming up, Mangahas said this is shaping up to be an extremely busy season.
“We’ve predicted this holiday season to be one of the busiest ever, especially as we’ve seen a really big shift for travelers traveling much longer,” he said. “This is where the flexibility of the hybrid comes into play. And so many Turo guests are already flocking to Hawaii, California, Florida, Arizona, and Colorado, with our most exciting destinations being Orlando, Denver, and Honolulu for Thanksgiving and year-end.”
But you should book early. Mangahas say the earlier you book, you’ll find the best deals.
HOW WILL THE WEATHER AFFECT YOUR THANKSGIVING TRAVEL PLANS?
And if you want to let someone rent your car and you’re worried about insurance and someone else driving it, Turo has you covered.
“You know, as a host, you have peace of mind knowing that we have $750,000 of liability insurance,” he said. “You can also choose from a number of different protection plans that include different levels of reimbursement to cover physical damage to any trip that takes place on our platform.”
