England striker Harry Kane has been spotted wearing a £535,000 rainbow-hued Rolex watch at the World Cup after the bracelet ban

Harry Kane was spotted wearing a rare Rolex Rainbow Daytona ahead of England’s World Cup opener against Iran.

This week, England captain Kane was determined to wear the OneLove armband ahead of Monday’s clash at the Khalifa International Stadium to show solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community.

However, after threats of sporting sanctions from FIFA, some European nations, including England and Germany, decided against wearing the armband.

Indeed, just an hour before a stunning 6-2 win over Group B opponents Iran, the English Football Association were forced into a U-turn by FIFA.

A statement from the FA said: “FIFA has made it very clear that if our captains wear the armbands on the pitch, they will impose sporting sanctions.

“As national federations we cannot put our players in a situation where they face sporting sanctions including warnings, so we have asked the captains not to try to wear the armbands at FIFA World Cup matches.

“We were willing to pay fines that would normally be imposed for gear violations and had a strong commitment to wearing the armband. However, we cannot put our players in a situation where they are cautioned or even forced to leave the field.

“We are very frustrated by FIFA’s decision, which we believe is unprecedented – we wrote to FIFA in September informing us of our desire to wear the One Love armband to actively support inclusion in football, and no response receive.

“Our players and coaches are disappointed – they are strong advocates of inclusion and will show their support in other ways.”

That being said, ahead of Monday’s World Cup clash, Kane was pictured wearing a Rainbow Rolex watch – a gesture that could be interpreted as a similar symbolic protest, the Daily Mail reports.

Insane Luxury Life, an Instagram account with over 700,000 followers, posted a picture of the Spurs forward wearing the Rolex ahead of the kick-off against Iran.

They wrote: “Captain of England @harrykane wears a rare @rolex Daytona ‘Rainbow’ 116595RBOW in 18k rose gold, one of the most coveted pieces on the market.

“This masterpiece is set with 36 baguette-cut rainbow sapphires on the bezel, 56 brilliant-cut diamonds on the case and 11 baguette-cut rainbow sapphires as hour markers.

“The Daytona Rainbow was first released in 2012 in 18k white gold and 18k yellow gold, at the time they weren’t well appreciated by the market.”

The German national team protested before the start of the World Cup against Japan with a face mask against the OneLove bracelet ban.

And throughout the match, German politician Nancy Faeser sat next to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, who wore the armband.

Federal Interior Minister Faeser described the bracelet ban as a “massive mistake” by Fifa.

“It breaks every fan’s heart to see FIFA shifting the burden onto the players’ shoulders,” she said.
