‘Even Messi knows’ – Piers Morgan praises Cristiano Ronaldo after the ex-Manchester United star’s record goal for Portugal as he celebrates in front of Argentina rivals at the World Cup

Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance for Portugal once again got the world talking, especially Piers Morgan.

Ronaldo led Portugal to a 3-2 win over Ghana in Thursday’s World Cup opener, with the 37-year-old scoring the first set from the penalty spot.

It was great for fans of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner to see his feet do the talking as he celebrated his goal with his signature ‘Siuu’ celebration.

Luckily, Ronaldo’s celebration took place in front of a flag bearing the face of historic rival Lionel Messi, who had been part of a shock defeat by Saudi Arabia just days earlier.

With a picture that appears to show Messi’s face looking at Ronaldo in awe, Morgan was quick to point this out to his 8million Twitter followers.

He tweeted, “Even Messi knows,” with a goat emoji.

The comment comes after Ronaldo made global headlines in recent weeks after his bombshell interview with the TalkTV host, in which he took aim at Manchester United, Erik ten Hag, the Glazer family and even club legends like Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney.

Since then, Ronaldo has left Old Trafford by mutual consent and focused on his football at the World Cup in Qatar.

With a goal in the World Cup opener, he is the first male player to score in five World Cups.

Now that Portugal is on the move, Ronaldo is certainly hoping to get deep into the competition and even fight for the trophy itself.
