Recruiting continued to thrive in Oregon under the first-time head coach Dan Lanning. During Thanksgiving week in November, the Ducks completed two commitments in three-star orienteering Gernorris Wilson and four-star DL Johnny Bowensthe 23rd and 24th confirmation of the 2023 class.
Bowens, the former Texas A&M committment, has visited the campus several times, including two weeks ago when Oregon hosted rival Washington. Wilson made an even quicker decision, visiting the Ducks in their win over Utah last weekend before pulling the trigger and committing to the Ducks.
Oregon’s class is now stacked with five #1 overall prospects in each player’s state: Dante Moore, Caleb Presley, Kenyon Sadiq, Teitum Tuiotiand Blake purchase.
With these additions to the class, the Ducks continue to hold the top spot in the Pac-12, jumping from No. 11 in the country (265.34 overall) to No. 11 (267.38 overall). Oregon remains five composite points behind No. 10 Miami.
Oregon has eight top 200 players in the QB Dante MooreWR Jurion Dickeycb Caleb PresleyWR Ashton Cozartcb Cabbage MartinATH Kenyon SadiqDL A’mauri Washington and RB Dante Dowdel. There have been several updated rankings since Dickey is now a five star consensus, and Dante Moore sneaked up to 6th in the Top 247 and 2nd in the 247 Sports Composite.
“In terms of recruitment, I think they’re going to kill it.” said Greg Biggins of 247Sports on the Autzen Audibles podcast earlier this year. “I saw a few of these guys at various college showcases this week. I saw Tosh [Lupoi] and trainers [Demetrice] Martin yesterday, and everyone’s pretty excited. Just talking to these guys, I think they think they can win a national championship in Oregon and they wouldn’t have come otherwise.
“It’s a really aggressive staff. I always say that the head coach has to set the tone, and as an assistant, Lanning was always a very aggressive recruiter, much like Mario Cristobal was, so I think he’ll bring the same level of passion and intensity. And then it’s the staff you hire. Every single one of these types of [Adrian] clamp [Kenny] Dillingham, I mentioned Tosh, this whole group is pretty passionate about chasing after and enjoying the hunt and being active grinders.”
Today we’re taking a look at Oregon’s 2023 Recruitment class in order, with a quick run-through of all the dedicated players.
