The 45-year-old actor began filming Gran Turismo – a film based on the best-selling racing video game series of the same name – in Hungary this week.

The Lord of the Rings star posted a series of photos with director Neill Blomkamp and co-star Archie Madekwe to his Instagram page.

The star plays Danny Moore, a currently unknown character.

From Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions, the film is based on the true story of Jann Mardenborough, a teenage video gamer-turned-professional racing driver.

The film tells the story of how the teenager fulfilled his dream of becoming a racing driver using his gaming skills which eventually helped him win a number of Nissan racing competitions.

The film will be officially released and hit theaters on August 11, 2023.
