Poll: Americans bet $1.8 billion on FIFA World Cup 2022

WASHINGTON, DC-Like some Broadcasters report record ratings For its coverage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the American Gaming Association (AGA) has released a new poll showing that 20.5 million American adults (8% of the population) are planning a total of $1.8 billion to bet on the World Cup.

“As the first World Cup with widespread availability of legal sports betting, this is sure to be the most wagered soccer event in the United States,” said Casey Clark, AGA senior vice president. “With more than half of all American adults having access to legal betting options in their home market, legal sports betting will deepen American fans’ engagement with the world’s most-watched sporting event.”
