In Group H at the 2022 World Cup, Portugal meets Ghana on Thursday. Portugal, who will probably play for the last time with Cristiano Ronaldo at the World Cup, go into the group as one of the favorites as they are also joined by Uruguay and South Korea. Anything less than a win here will raise big questions for the Euro 2016 winners, while Ghana are hoping for more World Cup magic with Inaki Williams leading the attack.

Here are our stories, how to watch the game and more:

storylines

Portugal: There have already been some negative rumors surrounding the chemistry with this team after Bruno Fernandes arrived at the camp and coldly greeted his then Manchester United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo. It was awkward, and while unclear, it could have stemmed from the harsh words Ronaldo said about his (now former) association, proverb he feels cheated. How that will affect the team remains to be seen, but from the outside it was an odd sight. On paper, Portugal have the talent to win the tournament but pay close attention to the chemistry between two key players in attack, Ronaldo and Fernandes.

Ghana: It’s not the Ghana with Michael Essien and Stephen Appiah, but there’s still some quality there. Thomas Partey runs midfield for this team and there are options up front with Inaki Williams and Jordan Ayew. Where this side will need players to improve is in defence, where they lack established international players. One player to watch is Southampton’s Mohamed Salisu who, despite only having one cap, should start in every game if he’s healthy.

forecast

Fernandes and Rafael Leao score as the Portuguese start on a high note. Choose: Portugal 2 Ghana 0
