As we pause so quickly to say thank you, here are a few thoughts that will run through my mind…
I AM GRATEFUL Paul Pelosi was not injured more severely than when a confused intruder broke into his San Francisco home in a furious search for his wife Nancy. The 82-year-old suffered serious head injuries and the perpetrator was charged with attempted murder. Enough is enough!
I AM GRATEFUL that Chattanooga is blessed with CityScope magazine…every issue of the popular magazine oozes class and beauty and grace…which I appreciate more and more.
I AM GRATEFUL for girls everywhere who play basketball in middle and high school. What a glorious testament to the game these girls are and kudos to those who coach them.
I AM GRATEFUL for Winston Churchill’s timeless observation: “You will never reach your goal if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks.”
I AM GRATEFUL for the lives of Erskine Peoples, who selflessly served on the boards of Hamilton County Schools, Erlanger Hospital and Siskin after starting out as band teachers. He died a few weeks ago at the age of 91.
I AM GRATEFUL for the thrill the University of Tennessee football teams delivered this fall. Wow, beating Alabama was a tremendous accomplishment considering the vaunted Tide just lost two games totaling four points this season. And what about Vanderbilt with two SEC wins after a long drought?
As always, I AM GRATEFUL that the Pilgrims spied on a turkey before finding a possum.
I AM GRATEFUL for the wisdom of Norman Vincent Peale: “One basic law: The more you practice the art of gratitude, the more you must be grateful.”
I AM GRATEFUL for December 17th, the day that Christmas wreaths adorn the markers of our fallen veterans across America, and the fact of seeing many at our National Cemetery will bring tears of gratitude.
I AM GRATEFUL when I think of adding a cup of vegetable soup to my lunch at Cracker Barrel.
I AM GRATEFUL that Baylor is playing for the state title in this first year under coach Erik Kimrey.
I AM GRATEFUL that UT football is back on the national “talk” despite the heartbreaking loss to South Carolina. Great golly, Tennessee is – at the moment – ranked 9thth in the AP poll. To Dr. To paraphrase sweet, don’t cry over a game or two; Be glad we got to experience it this season… the losses in Georgia and South Carolina are all part of the overall process. Instead, look to what lies ahead!
I AM GRATEFUL that during the hot summers someone came up with the idea of an ice cream sandwich. Lordy, I love her.
I AM GRATEFUL every time I hear a children’s choir.
I’M THANKFULL. The best advice for this weekend is: “Avoid malls.”
I AM GRATEFUL for Hamilton County Attorney Rheubin Taylor, a gentleman of the first rank, who has served us well. Borough Mayor Weston Wamp is keen to improve every facet of borough governance, which is why we elected him, but a treaty must always be honored.
I AM GRATEFUL that there will never be a day when Blood Assurance has “enough”. Bravo to the donors whose donations are saving countless lives in our community.
I AM GRATEFUL that Soddy Daisy is getting an Emergency Medicine facility and believe me, the potential for growth in northern Hamilton County will blow your mind. Now what about the wastewater treatment puzzle?
I AM GRATEFUL The words “thank you” will never go out of style. Use them often.
