Shack Chat: What game are you playing on Thanksgiving weekend 2022?

Shacknews readers, we’re on the road this Thanksgiving weekend! You’ll see some scheduled posts coming out over the next few days, but your favorite authors and personalities (at least we hope we are your favorite authors and personalities) will load up over the weekend and come back towards the end of the year. year home track. In the meantime, let’s talk about what we’re playing this weekend. There are plenty of games to try, whether we’re jumping into this year’s best or catching up on a hit from the past. Here are our picks for what we’re playing this Thanksgiving weekend.

Question: What game are you playing on Thanksgiving weekend 2022?

God of War Ragnarok – Ozzie Mejia BOY!

I thought I could romp straight through the Nine Realms, but it turns out there’s a lot more to do in the latest God of War than I thought. I didn’t expect to get involved in actual side quests that have consequences for the world around me. All right, so I’ll be hanging out with Kratos, Atreus, and Mimir for the weekend. I’ll ideally get through the story, but I’m not holding my breath on this one. After all, it’s an amazing experience and not one I really hope will end any time soon.

Bouncing between Sonic and Pokemon – TJ Denzer, gotta catch ’em FAST!

I’ve recently started two games and I’ll be playing both extensively over the Thanksgiving break. Sonic and Pokemon are both childhood favorites that I’m really enjoying, and this year seems to be a great one for both franchises. Although these games have some conflicting opinions about them in terms of performance, Sonic Frontiers and Pokemon Scarlet & Violet also both have fans who enjoy them. With that in mind, I shed my fear of no-saying and criticism and embraced both, and I’ve had a fantastic time.

Sure, both games aren’t perfect. There are glaring issues in both Sonic Frontiers and Pokemon Scarlet & Violet that will need fixing in hopefully forthcoming patches. But that doesn’t change the fact that they’re still really fun. Sonic might have one of my favorite soundtracks this year along with the interesting open zone exploration. In the meantime, Pokemon’s new open-world design makes the franchise feel fresh again to me. I love to get off track and explore to my heart’s content to see what new creatures I can find. I plan to spend a lot of time between the two games throughout the weekend and give myself some super sonic time to catch them all.

Sonic Frontiers – Morgan Shaver, still enjoys Sonic Frontiers

Although I’ve already completed the Sonic Frontiers campaign and invested a lot of time in the game, I’m still not 100% complete on all the islands. With that in mind, I intend to invest more time in Sonic Frontiers over the Thanksgiving holiday. Outside of Sonic Frontiers I plan to put more time into Horizon Forbidden West and this is another game I’ve been 100% working on. I’ll probably also be playing some of my favorite multiplayer favorites like Halo Infinite, Splatoon 3 and of course Tetris 99.

Bayonetta 3 – Blake Morse, fly me to the moon

I’ve been waiting for Bayonetta 3 to come out for so long and I’m really very excited to finally have a chance to sit down and spend some time with my favorite witch woman. I’ve been a fan of the series since day 1 and waited until I had a significant chunk of time to devote myself to slaying angels and otherworldly creatures. It’s cold, dark, and rainy here in Portland right now, so it’s the perfect weekend to stay with a loved one, get warm and cozy on the couch, and shoot some baddies with their high heel pistols!

Grounded – Sam Chandler, spider tamer

Well, I don’t know if this will come to fruition, but my hope is to build a new gaming PC over Thanksgiving weekend. It’s not really a game, but it will certainly allow me to play them! Failing that, I’ll load back into Grounded with my wife as we continue our journey to try and unshrink ourselves.

The Long Dark – Bill Lavoy, Mayor of Blackrock

There are many games I need to play and experience as we move into the final stages of 2022, but during my (American) Thanksgiving break I’ll be spending at least a little time in The Long Dark. This is the game I can jump into and relax a bit, so a morning will be devoted to a hot coffee and a few hours exploring Great Bear Island. I want to go for a walk and get ready for Tales from the Far Territory.

God of War Ragnarok FINALLY! – Dennis White Jr., social media guru

After a week and a half of my physical copy being lost in transit and being on the verge of throwing Thor’s hammer at someone, I finally got my hands on the game. I’m excited to load this one up on my Sony Bravia TV, which I didn’t have at the time of my first playthrough of the original 2018 title. Ultra 4K HDR clarity, here I come!

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet – Donovan Erskine, Elite Four

Now that my review is live and I’ve beaten the game, I can casually enjoy Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as a fan of the series. Most of my friends have the game now, so we’ll explore Paldea together and do Tera Raids all long weekend. I also plan to lean heavily into the competitive scene in this generation, so I want to work on building my first team.

Pokemon Scarlet and Purple – Steve Tyminski, Pokemon Master!

What games will I be playing over the Thanksgiving holiday? There are a few games that will catch my attention. I was drawn into Harvestella before Pokemon Scarlet and Violet came out. I need to level up my farm again in this half RPG, half farming sim. I don’t know how Square Enix got me interested in farming, but damn they did. I also want to go back to Sonic Frontiers as this is another game I started playing before I got my hands on Pokemon.

Oh who am I kidding, I play Pokemon all the time. If I wasn’t playing other games on the Stevetendo show, that would be all I would be playing. My brother is coming over after Thanksgiving so we can play together and maybe do a few raids. This is the first Pokemon game in a long time where we could both make decent teams to battle each other. I still have a lot to do in Pokemon and I need to find my first Shiny in Paldea, enough to keep me busy during the long weekend.

This is how we spend our Thanksgiving weekend. What are you going to jump on? Join the conversation and tell us what you’re playing over the long holiday.
