Thanksgiving Day is a state and federal holiday. It is the 10th of 11 public holidays in 2022, followed by Christmas.

Many supermarkets will be open with reduced opening hours. Ultimately, buyers should check with their local supermarket for specific information.

The following grocery stores are open:

  • Acme (7am-4pm most locations, but hours may vary in some locations)
  • Foodtown (varies by store)
  • ShopRite (varies by store)
  • Stop & Shop (7 a.m. – 3 p.m.; pharmacy remains closed)
  • Wegman’s (7am – 4pm)
  • Whole Foods (varies by store)

It varies by facility. Some restaurants may be closed while others are open and selling prepared holiday meals to take away.

Are malls open on Thanksgiving 2022?

Simon, one of the largest mall operators in the United States, has closed its malls, malls and properties on Thanksgiving Day in 2020 and 2021.

The following 13 Simon malls and malls in New Jersey are expected to close again this year:

  • Jackson Premium Outlets: 537 Monmouth Rd., Jackson
  • Jersey Shore Premium Outlets: 1 Premium Outlet Blvd., Tinton Falls

  • Newport Centre: 30 Mall Dr. West, Jersey City
  • Newport Crossing: 613 Washington Blvd., Jersey City
  • Newport Plaza: 125 18th St., Jersey City
  • Ocean County Mall: 1201 Hooper Ave., Toms River
  • Quaker Bridge Mall: 3320 Route 1 Unit 150, Lawrenceville
  • Rockaway Town Square: 301 Mount Hope Ave., Rockaway
  • The Mills at Jersey Gardens: 651 Kapkowski Rd., Elizabeth
  • The Riverside Shops: 390 Hackensack Ave., Hackensack

So far, no other New Jersey malls have announced their plans for Thanksgiving Day.

Are the stock markets open on Thanksgiving?

no Stock markets are closed on Thanksgiving. Nasdaq trading and bond markets will also be closed.

Are New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission locations open on Thanksgiving Day 2022?

All Motor Vehicle Commission offices will be closed. Additionally, all New Jersey state offices and courts are closed for the holiday.

Online processing of some documents is available on the Motor Vehicle Commission website.

Are NJ Transit, PATH and SEPTA operating on a normal schedule?

NJ Transit will add additional trains and buses in the morning and early afternoon hours to accommodate passengers traveling to and from the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. PATH operates on a Saturday schedule while SEPTA operates on a Sunday schedule.

For NJ Transit, passengers should use NJ Transit’s online trip planner to verify arrival and departure times.

When is the next federal holiday?

The next federal holiday is Christmas Day on Sunday December 25th.
