JAKARTA (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Public Works and Housing is committed to accelerating the development of the future capital, Nusantara, through the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology.

Secretary-General of the Ministry Mohammad Zainal Fatah noted that in addition to existing resources, the Ministry will also utilize new resources acquired through interaction and collaboration with other cultures and technologies.

“One (of the new technologies) that we are familiar with and are now using is the BIM resource, which will facilitate the coordination, integration, efficiency and control of construction work,” Fatah noted in his remarks during the BIM Innovation Conference 2022 here on Thursday.

He said that BIM technology is not just an application of computer operations, but also provides a digital representation of a building’s physical properties and functions.

BIM technology is a digital methodology that uses digital data inputs derived from actual physical conditions to optimally identify construction risks.

The advantages of the technology are the increase in efficiency and accuracy through the coordination between the relevant interest groups, a leaner and more transparent planning and construction progress, and the calculation accuracy. The technology aims to reduce and speed up errors in the construction process.

Meanwhile, the ministry official said that as the ministry’s major ongoing project, the new capital would be developed as an intelligent forest city.

“As such, the development of the new capital will be central to our mission to transform the nation in how it lives, works and mobilizes, while committed to protecting the environment,” Fatah noted.
